Some of the Ecologi projects that we support 🌱
Our projects are situated across the globe.
Restoring degraded land in Senegal
In total, 245 hectares of degraded land will be restored by this project, with the community choosing which species to plant. The trees will contribute to both climate change adaptation and mitigation by improving the soil and creating resistance to drought. Gewocha Forest, Ethiopia
The project focusses on three aims: forest restoration, securing communal ownership of the community forest, and agroforestry. These strategies will help ensure the long-term, sustainable use of the land by and promote better health and wellbeing among the people. Wind power project in Thailand
This project will prevent 131,883 tCO2e from entering our atmosphere every year it's operational, totalling more than 1.3 million tCO2e over 10 years. As well as the environmental benefits of reducing emissions, this project also creates jobs and drives investment in the local area. FAQ
Can this stop climate change?
There are billions of concerned people on this planet who care, but don’t know how to make a meaningful contribution. If we can get the right platform that allows us to make the impact we want to, and continue the process of carbon awareness then there’s an amazing opportunity.
The underlying projects you’ll be supporting (e.g. reforestation, renewables, efficient cooking stoves) are all ranked highly in terms of climate change solutions.
One of our goals is to plant one billion trees, read about why this isn’t such a crazy idea.
How can you prove my impact?
In our drive to be transparent about the climate solutions we fund, we publish the certificates for all of the carbon credits (verified tonnes of carbon emissions reduced) that we buy, and also the receipts from our purchases of tree planting services from our tree-planting partners. You can view these here.
We only fund carbon offset projects which meet the highest verification standards, such as Gold Standard or Verified Carbon Standard. In addition, we aim to fund offset projects which meet other important sustainability and development standards like CCBS and SDVista – which show how the offset projects (as well as meeting a recognised carbon standard) also contribute positive impacts to the local communities, and to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
We only work with tree-planting partners who plant trees responsibly. In addition, our partners are regularly audited by third parties, and publish internal reports for us with updates and data from our planting sites. Check out this annual audit for our Madagascan tree planting project for an audit example. You can read more on responsible reforestation here.
How do you ensure the trees are protected?
The difference between a well-managed reforestation project, and one that isn’t, is huge. It’s imperative that your funds go to a project that meets the exceptionally high criteria needed for mass tree planting as a tool for combating climate change.
For answers to lots of common questions such as “how do you protect the trees?” you can read our article on the subject here.
How can you prove that the reforestation projects I support are having a real impact?
The Ecologi team takes great care in selecting some of the leading ecosystem restoration organisations in the world, to take care of the reforestation projects you fund through our platform.
They have a strict due diligence and partner onboarding process covers a wide range of criteria which our partners must meet before we bring them onboard. This includes drilling down on the type and quality of forest restoration they do; how they handle risks on the ground, including risks from fires and logging; how they prioritise social impact, equity and fairness; their ecological integrity, reputation, credentials and expertise. We also actively monitor our projects centrally, receiving and reviewing reports of planting and survival rates; using satellite imaging platforms to examine tree cover over time; and undertaking spot checks during the site visits our team undertakes on the ground.
All of this leaves us confident that the projects are having a real impact on the ground – not just through the planting of ecologically appropriate trees, but also through generating rippling co-benefits for the communities in which they take place.
Finally, Ecologi publish evidence of reforestation project funding on our Public Impact Ledger – which you can see here.
